Apple Continues Its Crackdown On the iPhone App Store

It seems that Apple hasn’t finished its crackdown on the iPhone App store just yet, after recently removing any WiFi detector applications, Apple’s next target is ‘cookie cutter’ style applications.
These applications are basically applications which according to Apple has similar functionality to websites, so basically RSS reader applications.
A number of developers have reported that their applications have been removed from the app store, and to be honest this isn’t good news for small publishers who cant afford to spend around $5,000 to have an application developed and have used a platform to get the App in the App Store.
There are also a number of companies that have launched platforms that enable small publishers to get an application developed for a reasonable amount of money, enabling them to have an application in the app store that they otherwise may not have been able to afford.
It is not clear what applications will be effected by Apple’s latest crackdown on the app store, and we could end up losing a lot of cool and interesting applications from the iPhone.
I can understand Apple wanting to deliver only quality applications to iPhone and iPod Touch users, lets hope some good iPhone application doesn't get effected by this process.

Some iPhone Apps Left Out Of Apple iPad

It won’t be long before Apple’s new tablet goes on sale, it turns out that the iPad may not ship with exactly the same Apple applications pre-installed that are currently on the iPhone.
According to John Gruber of Daring Fireball, the iPad will not feature the Calculator, Clock, and Stocks application that are currently shipped with the iPhone.
Apparently the reason these applications will be left out of the Apple iPad is that Steve Jobs decided to ditch them as they didn’t function excatly the way he wanted them to on the iPads larger screen.
There was speculation that these applications would be available as a free download from the Apple App Store, although it now seems that this wont be the case, at least when the iPad launches, Apple may offer new versions of these application for the iPad when they have been re-designed for the larger screen.

Google Testing Android Based TV Search Service

Google are in the process of testing a new software service that runs on set top boxes and will let users search both TV content and also web videos on their televisions.
The service is apparently based on Google’s Android operating system and the are currently developing the service with broadcast satellite service provider the Dish Network.
It looks like the service is in the early stages of development, so it may be some time before we see Google Search on out set top boxes. It is currently being tested by a number of Google employees.
Google continue to broaden the range of services they offer, and getting such a service into every users home would have a massive impact on Google, it seems that Google wants to take over our living rooms as well as our computers.

iPhone Sausage Screen Stylus

Notice: sorry I haven't posted in a while.. I've been really busy with school and other stuff, but here is another post! Enjoy!

If you are the sort of person who doesn’t want to use your hands to control your iPhone’s touchscreen when it is cold outside, then you need to get yourself one of these iPhone Sausage Screen Stylus.
The iPhone Sausage Screen Stylus can be used with your iPhone and iPod Touch to control all the functions you would when you are using your fingers, it cleverly fools the iPhone into thinking you are actually using your fingers.
If you want one of these iPhone Sausage Screen Stylus, they are available for $0.99 from Case Crown, of course you could just pop down to your local Deli and get one there. What will they think of next!

Aperature 3.0 Crashing Hard Drives Worldwide

The recently released professional photo software Apertaure 3.0  by Apple has been causing entire Mac hard drives to lock.  The apparent memory leak bug in Aperature 3.0 is allowing the software to create enormous page files which take up all available storage space on the Macs make them fail.
a large number of disgruntled Aperature 3.0 users are complaining on the Apple discussion forums about the problems.  “It’s the worst Apple upgrade I’ve ever had, Aperture 3 is now unusable to me.” Discoteca claims.
Currently Apple are taking the no comment stance at the moment but I’ll keep you updated as soon as a fix  is found.
